1. Introduction
By accessing and using the EDCH Training Platform, a Moodle learning platform operated by OpenEdition, you agree to comply with the following terms and legal notices.
The platform is intended to provide training courses to support Diamond Open Access Publishers, Service Providers, and Technology Providers as part of the European Diamond Capacity Hub initiative.
Use of the platform implies full acceptance of these terms.
2. Access and User Accounts
Everyone is allowed to create an account on the platform. By default, new users are assigned the Student role, which allows them to:
- Enroll in courses
- Access course materials
- Submit assignments and post in forums (if enabled)
- Track their own progress
Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials. Accounts may be suspended or deleted in cases of misuse, prolonged inactivity, or violation of these terms.
3. Acceptable Use Policy
All users must use the platform respectfully and legally. The following behaviors are strictly prohibited, especially in areas where users can post content (e.g., forums, activities):
- Posting offensive, discriminatory, or illegal content
- Uploading malware or attempting to hack or compromise the system
- Harassment, intimidation, or threats against other users
Expected behaviors include:
- Respecting others' contributions and opinions
- Upholding academic integrity (no plagiarism, cheating, or impersonation)
- Following any course-specific or institutional codes of conduct
4. Content Ownership and Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, all training materials made available on the EDCH Training Platform are licensed under the Licence Creative Commons BY 4.0 .
Content contributed by users, such as forum posts, assignment submissions, or uploaded materials, remains the intellectual property of the user. This user-generated content is outside the scope of the Creative Commons license and is the responsibility of its author.
5. Data Protection and Privacy
Your personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy, which describe how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
6. Platform Availability and Maintenance
The platform may occasionally be unavailable due to updates, maintenance, or technical issues. While we strive for a stable service, we do not guarantee continuous 24/7 access.
OpenEdition is not liable for any data loss or disruption due to system failures, maintenance operations, or force majeure.
7. Disclaimer of Liability
The EDCH Training Platform and its content are provided “as is”, without warranties or guarantees of any kind.
OpenEdition is not liable for:
- Errors or outdated information in course content
- Technical problems or interruptions in access
- Misuse of the platform by users
8. Modifications to These Terms
We reserve the right to update or modify these terms at any time without prior notice. Users are encouraged to review this page regularly.
Continued use of the platform after changes implies acceptance of the updated terms.
9. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction
These terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of France. Any disputes arising shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in Marseille, France.
