The EDCH Training Platform is managed by OpenEdition, a digital infrastructure for academic communication in the humanities and social sciences, based in Marseille, France.
It is one of the services provided by the European Diamond Capacity Hub, a collective that provides services for Diamond Open Access Publishers, Service Providers, and Tools & Technology Providers.
3. How We Collect Your Data
- Directly from you: through account creation, profile updates, assignments, forum posts, etc.
- Automatically through the platform: via system logs and session cookies.
4. Why We Collect and Use Your Data
- To create and manage user accounts (Legal basis: contractual necessity)
- To deliver learning content (Legal basis: contractual necessity)
- To assess and track learning progress (Legal basis: contractual necessity)
- To provide technical support and platform security (Legal basis: legitimate interest)
- To improve the platform (Legal basis: legitimate interest)
Where applicable, we may also rely on your consent (e.g., for optional services).
5. Who Has Access to Your Data
Data controller: OpenEdition
Data processor: Elearning Touch’ (hosting and technical operation)
- Platform administrators
- Course instructors/trainers
- Support staff (IT, instructional designers)
6. How We Store and Protect Your Data
Your data is stored securely on servers located in France (Paris area) within the EU. We apply technical and organizational security measures including:
- HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Firewalls and server hardening
- Regular updates and security patches
- Secure backups
Access is managed through Moodle's role-based permissions. Only one super administrator account is maintained.
7. How Long We Keep Your Data
User accounts are retained for up to 36 months after the last login. We perform a yearly review and delete inactive accounts accordingly.
